Where did you grow up, and where are you based now?   We are a London & Bristol duo…  Benny Kane – I live in Bristol  Dr Specs – I lived in South West London, I moved to Bristol to go to university and that's were I met Benny and we started Urban knights

2 - What is the concept behind your name?

One of the main concepts behind the name was that Urban Knights = UK  We are proud of the UK music scene and no matter were we are in the world we always like representing the UK.

3 - What originally enticed you to start making music?

MONEY !!!! Haha, No really after DJing out playing other peoples music we just wanted to make our own sound and create tracks that we thought would sound heavy in the club!!

4 - How would you describe your music?

UK Bass Music!! Our influences come from the likes of garage and basement, anything with lots of sub bass with hard drums.. music that gets people moving from the get go

5 - How do you explain your music to your family members?

Your family should always be your biggest fan so really we don’t tend to have to explain our sound to them, I think they tend to make there own interpretations of it from looking online. Dr Specs - My mom's always showing her friends what we do online.. She loves it !!!

6 - When did you first feel that you had finally discovered your own signature sound as a group?

We experimented with a lot of different genres and sounds in the beginning but gradually through trial and error we began to craft beats that worked on the sound systems we were playing on . I think with these singles coming out at the moment there a good representation of the sound we're

7 - Could you name three tracks that you think were particularly influential for your own style?

Triplets – Sticky

Who’s afraid of Detroit- claud von stroke

Ruffest gunark- Top cat

8 - When you sit down to make a track, what’s the first thing you typically do? How long does a track typically take you to make?

Completely depends on whether we have something in mind before we go into the studio. Some ideas are fresh in your head, which can make the process quicker- normally a couple of weeks.

9 - What other producers are you inspired by?

The label dirty bird has always brought a fresh sound to house/tech house – I remember the first time we heard claud von stroke – who afraid of Detroit… it was crazy, all types of vibes
