1 - Can you tell us a Tell us little about your background?
Where did you grow up, and where are you based now? We are a London & Bristol duo… Benny Kane – I live in Bristol Dr Specs – I lived in South West London, I moved to Bristol to go to university and that's were I met Benny and we started Urban knights
2 - What is the concept behind your name?
One of the main concepts behind the name was that Urban Knights = UK We are proud of the UK music scene and no matter were we are in the world we always like representing the UK.
3 - What originally enticed you to start making music?
MONEY !!!! Haha, No really after DJing out playing other peoples music we just wanted to make our own sound and create tracks that we thought would sound heavy in the club!!
4 - How would you describe your music?
UK Bass Music!! Our influences come from the likes of garage and basement, anything with lots of sub bass with hard drums.. music that gets people moving from the get go
5 - How do you explain your music to your family members?
Your family should always be your biggest fan so really we don’t tend to have to explain our sound to them, I think they tend to make there own interpretations of it from looking online. Dr Specs - My mom's always showing her friends what we do online.. She loves it !!!
6 - When did you first feel that you had finally discovered your own signature sound as a group?
We experimented with a lot of different genres and sounds in the beginning but gradually through trial and error we began to craft beats that worked on the sound systems we were playing on . I think with these singles coming out at the moment there a good representation of the sound we're
7 - Could you name three tracks that you think were particularly influential for your own style?

8 - When you sit down to make a track, what’s the first thing you typically do? How long does a track typically take you to make?
Completely depends on whether we have something in mind before we go into the studio. Some ideas are fresh in your head, which can make the process quicker- normally a couple of weeks.
9 - What other producers are you inspired by?
The label dirty bird has always brought a fresh sound to house/tech house – I remember the first time we heard claud von stroke – who afraid of Detroit… it was crazy, all types of vibes
10 - Which one record do you wish you had made?
Boo – mrs dynamite, big riddim !!
11 - Do you play any instruments?
I Play the kazoo
12 - Could you tell us a little bit about your studio? What kind of gear are you using?

13 - How and where do you record?
Like everybody else, on a mac in a studio, otherwise we have recording studios we use in bristol and london
14 - When you’re not listening to electronic music, what do you listen to?
All types of music, I love to have my ipod on shuffle- hip hop, r&b, garage, house. Never know what your going to get!
15 - Do you DJ, play live, or both? How would you describe your sets?
We DJ and have our live AV (Audio/Visual) act. Both are a mish mash of sounds and groves with big basslines, big vocals and beats that are always keeping the dance floor lively.
16 - What records are obliterating your dancefloors at the moment?
All the old school garage has been surfacing a lot in our sets recently, pulling out all the classics for the dance floor!!

19 - Can you tell us a Tell us about your upcoming gigs and releases?
Our new tune is out now, worldwide- Step On Dem ft. Blackout JA Its big Major Lazer style Ragga Summer Vibes Bizness which has been getting amazing responses in our sets. Defo one to look out for, also with big bass remix's from Soul Circuit & Rory Lyons which are top notch. After that we've got our new track Voodoo, coming out next month which is going to be a great release as well
