Le producteur de rap et d'électro DJ Mehdi, de son vrai nom Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, est mort à l'âge de 34 ans, dans la nuit de lundi à mardi, après un accident à son domicile. Son décès a été d'abord annoncé par Cut Killer, avant d'être confirmé par plusieurs autres sources. Il semblerait qu'il soit tombé d'une mezzanine avec d'autres personnes. Au moins deux autres personnes ont été hospitalisées après cet accident.

Connu plus récemment pour ses productions électro, en particulier pour le label Ed Banger qui compte des membres tel que Daft Punk et Cassius, DJ Mehdi a commencé sa carrière derrière les platines pour de gros collectifs de rap, comme Mafia K'1 Fry, Ideal J et 113. Il était un des meilleurs représentant de la "french touch" actuelle, Mehdi Favéris-Essadi aura été un "artiste majeur des musiques urbaines" en France, selon la formulation de l'Adami, société civile pour l'administration des droits des artistes et musiciens interprètes.
