1 - Can you tell us a Tell us little about your background? Where did you grow up, and where are you based now?

I grew up in the Rep of Ireland in a town called Trim, in Co.meath   about 40 mins from Dublin.

I left there  in the 90s  moved  to London  , to   sign a record deal ( that was the Plan ) .My  Brother lived over there  so I had a place to stay and family .

I spent allot of time going from club to club  , and soaking it all up .I was a regular at Heavnly Juke Box in Turnmills  .It was about the time of Big beat Explosion , I liked the  old  school Hip-hop  vibe of  Big Beat .

I was making tunes in my Flat and getting them pressed on dub plates and listening to them at home .I think I saw an ad in a Music Mag  for a company called Alpahamagic  looking for demos , so I rang them and arranged a meeting . I walked in to the board room filled with Happy Hardcore Djs, Like Dougal and Slip matt. I played them my Dub plate of my tune which was 12 minutes of Dub / Techno/Breaks and Trance. They Said “said it’s a bit long “   and gave me Daniel Billy Bunters Number and he signed me .Nothing was released and I headed to back to Good auld Ireland. I’m

 Still Here!

2 - How did you guys get started DJing and making music?

I got into music when I was about 13, I starting scrathing on my sisters Hifi. Then I discovered  808 state , Public Enemy , Nwa , early Rave and Hardcore  , James brown ,Ice t    . I got my dexs when I was 15 and started producing when I was 18. I was into all types of music really.

3 - When did you first feel that you had finally discovered your own specific sound?

I suppose I was always into hip-hop so I wanted to recreate the sound , But it wasn’t until i dropped my first album  “ Funky Five Years Ago “  in 2005 , that it all made sense .I suppose your sound changes as u grow as a producer , but the Hip-hop/ Funk is always there  some ware.

4 - Do you know know what kind of track you want to write before you sit down to make it, or is it more a matter of experimenting and just seeing what happens?

I go into the studio and think right I’m gona do a Dubby Hip-hop Tune and u end up with a Drum n Bass tune. It’s just whatever sounds good really, but sometimes it just comes together really quickly and u end doing a tune which u had in Ur head.

5 - Where do you look for inspiration when you’re starting on a new track?

I usually start off with just a kick n snare, and Build for there. Or sometimes I hear a tune and think that’s a really nice string section and make a song with a string section.

6 - When you do sample, how do you approach it? Where do you source your samples from?

I usually start off with a drum break or loop; sometimes I might find a noise or sound on a record and make a song around that.

I use Lots of old vinyl and sample packs; about 80 % of my music is done from samples. Samples are my instrument.

7 - What does your current production setup consist of?

Dell  quad Core   running Windows Xp  , Abelton 7 and 8 , Wave lab ,Technics  1210s ,Akai Mpd 32  , Blue Sky Monitors , Rocket 8 Monitors and  loads of vinyl .

8 - When you’re not listening to electronic music, what do you listen to?

I’m In the studio 7 days a week , so alot of time I rest my ears and don’t listen to any music .But maybe a bit of  Pink Floyd , Blur , Radiohead , Gary Newman , Lots of the Clash  and the Specials

9 - Favorite non-electronic record of all time?

It would have to be Pink Floyd Dark side of The Moon

10 - Tell us a little about your style of DJing.

My Dj style is a Block Rockin Party Rockin Mash up of Sweat, Lasers, Air horns, and Loads of Funk n Bass…

11 - When you perform, what’s your preferred setup and how would you describe your sets? Are they different than your sounds as a producer?

I used to be 100 %  vinyl , Then it was getting to heavy to carry and I was making 2 many tunes that I wanted to play out , so I started using Cds ,  I ended having about 400 cds with one tune on every one  which was a nightmare cos I kept losing cds  . Now I just  use Ableton 8 and an Mpd 32.

I don’t “play live “  with the laptop ,  I just Dj from Abelton  and use the Mpd to drop samples and efx , I try to keep it simple as possible .
